All 2016 TNT Grads Attending College

Ismael graduation
Ismael Hernandez is off to Sonoma State

Graduation season is always bittersweet at Youth ALIVE!’s Teens On Target program. This year, 11 of our youth leaders at Castlemont High School in East Oakland graduated. We are so proud of them and we will miss each and every one of them.

The good news — the great news — is that each of them is off to college. This year’s TNT grads are headed to UCs, to community colleges, to historically Black colleges and Cal States.

Ismael Hernandez of Castlemont is going to Sonoma State. Stephanie Vega is going to UC Santa Barbara. Raymundo Ramirez will be heading to UC Merced in August to major in Biology. He says he liked Merced’s small campus and the diverse student body there. He is especially excited about the hands-on method of teaching emphasized at UC Merced. Born and raised in Oakland, Raymundo was a 4-year participant in TNT and says the leadership skills he acquired have helped him take action in his community and at his school. He plans to go on to med school after UC Merced.
