Ayodeji Ewegbemi is known as the money man at Youth ALIVE!. He is part of the team that keeps Youth ALIVE! running behind the scenes. Almost a native of Oakland, he arrived at the age of seven, he jokes that his father is from the village and his mother is from the Town. The village, in this case, is in Nigeria.
No stranger to non-profits, he joined the YA! Team, in part, because it is situated in Oakland and services Oakland residents. “Fortunately, I haven’t been affected by violence…but through Youth ALIVE! I can indirectly help,” Ayodeji said.
He is a father and a family man.He likes to cook and to travel. He loves the water. “I’m a human with empathy,” Ayodeji said. “I don’t know if I could be program staff. That would be so much to take home. I commend the program staff, they are superheroes in my book.” True as that is, Youth ALIVE! is a team and it is teamwork that makes it possible and Ayodeji is an important part of that team, making sure the finances are right and Youth ALIVE!, organization and individual staff, have the tools they need to save lives.
