Denay Harris

Before joining Youth ALIVE!, Denay Harris lived and worked in Australia as an au pair. When preparing to return to the United States one of the children she worked with, aware of the violence in America, worried about her safety. His concern helped fuel her desire to be a part of the solution to violence.

That desire led Denay to join the Youth ALIVE! team. “I’m in the office doing things that are pivotal to make sure my colleagues that are on the front lines can go out and do the important things they do,” Denay said about her work as a Development Assistant. In her position she works on fundraisers, provides event support and planning, and spreads the word about Youth ALIVE! on social media. Among her favorite things about her work are speaking with donors and seeing the community rally around violence prevention, intervention, and healing.

Denay’s work has personal motivation as well. “I’ve been on the other side of it,” Denay shared. “It would have been great to have an organization like Youth ALIVE! to get through something like this. If I can be the reason that someone else’s family gets the services and support they need, then I’d love to do that.”
