KPIX CBS Bay Area-Popular School-Based Violence Interruption Program At Risk of Losing Funding
Youth Alive!’s school-based violence interruption program—trusted by students, families, and schools—is now at risk of losing its funding. This comes just days after the shooting at Skyline High School, where our team was on campus providing immediate support and crisis response.
Since 2022, we’ve partnered with OUSD to prevent violence, de-escalate conflicts, and walk with young people through some of the hardest moments of their lives. As Executive Director Joe Griffin shared with KPIX CBS News Bay Area:
“If we want students to take steps towards nonviolence and peace, we actually have to walk with them along that way.”
And as Joe noted, “Everyone wants us there.”
Thank you to KPIX for highlighting this urgent issue.
