Hometown Heroes Fellowship

Youth Alive’s Hometown Heroes Fellowship is a workforce development initiative that combines professional training, community engagement, and therapeutic support to develop the leadership skills of individuals directly or indirectly impacted by violence. The program builds the next generation of credible messengers and community leaders in the field of violence prevention.

About Hometown Heroes

This unique program provides hands-on experience in violence prevention, case management and community support, empowering participants to help others affected by
community violence.

In this paid opportunity, participants gain real-world leadership development experience in violence prevention, case management, and community support. They work alongside seasoned Intervention Specialists and receive personalized mentorship to help them grow their skills.

Through real-world engagement, they support peers impacted by violence, advocate for positive community change, and build a foundation for future leadership roles in violence prevention and intervention services.

Through the Fellowship, I’ve gained deep knowledge of community resources along with the communication and advocacy skills to share them with people who often feel unheard. Giving back, whether by connecting someone to support or helping organize block parties that bring neighbors together, has been incredibly rewarding.
