Healed People Heal People

Youth ALIVE!’s Annual Report 2021-2022 –

Filled with stories, pictures and program results, this year’s report is really all about the difficult task of healing after violence, and the many things our programs and staff do to help people and our city heal. Because we know that, while violence leads to more violence, healing is also contagious. We see it every day; as our clients who came to us traumatized by an act of violence begin to regain their health and wholeness, they begin to help others do the same. Healed people heal people. Those are the stories you will find in this report from our staff, so many of whom have themselves been hurt by gun violence.

Do not miss the opening letter from our Intervention Director Paris Davis, who tells his story of life-changing violence and life-changing healing, with the help of one of our great, former Intervention Specialists, JD Rhone. Don’t miss any of the stories staff from each program tell.

This year’s centerpiece is a summary of the great work our Advocacy for Change program has done working with our clients and community to create systemic change to make our city and state safer and fairer places. Clients speaking truth to power is probably the clearest symbol of healed people working to spread the healing. On the back page is a fond farewell, sort of, to the legendary Kyndra Simmons, now Kyndra Simmons, PhD, who has also graduated from staff to board member.

As always, we are grateful for your caring, friendship and support!
